One of Victoria’s fastest-growing regional cities is preparing for a bold future. With its population expected to reach 100,000 by 2025, the local government recognised. It needed more than just vision, it needed the right tools to support smart, scalable planning.
At the centre of this transformation was the adoption of Pathway UX, a modern platform designed to empower staff with real-time, location-based insights. As with any major system upgrade, the journey came with challenges.
The challenge
As the organisation transitioned to Pathway UX, maintaining a critical link to its Geographic Information System (GIS) was essential. Without it, access to real-time location data would be disrupted, slowing down planning decisions and impacting workflows dependent on up-to-date information.
However, the shift to Pathway UX introduced a new hurdle: technology compatibility. The organisation required a fresh integration approach—one that aligned with modern architecture, supported existing workflows, and avoided costly, time-consuming custom development.
The solution: Seamless integration with Geovonic Connect
To address the challenge, the organisation implemented Geovonic Connect for ArcGIS, developed by Boustead Geospatial Technologies, an Esri Gold Partner, and supported by Esri Australia. Geovonic Connect for ArcGIS is a cloud-based integration solution with pre-built connectors for systems widely used by local governments in Australia and New Zealand, including Pathway UX.
The ready-to-use connector enabled quick, effortless access to property data, eliminating the need for custom builds or redevelopment. Once configured, Geovonic Connect for ArcGIS was deployed into the organisation’s ArcGIS environment as a new Experience Builder widget embedded in the internal map viewer. This allowed staff to access integrated GIS and Pathway UX data directly through their familiar mapping interface. This approach removed the need for manual data entry, reduced duplication, and ensured critical workflows continued uninterrupted during the upgrade.
The outcome: Smarter planning, future-ready operations
With Geovonic Connect for ArcGIS in place, the organisation:
- Maintained seamless planning workflows during a major system upgrade.
- Reduced manual effort and eliminated data duplication.
- Accelerated planning application processing.
- Future-proofed operations with a flexible, cloud-ready solution.
This project didn’t just solve a technical challenge, it enabled smarter, faster decision-making with location at the centre, positioning the organisation to continue growing and innovating.
The implementation of the Pathway UX represents a significant transformation for the entire organisation. With the assistance of Geovonic, it ensures the seamless transition of all current workflows into the new system, maintaining operational continuity.
