Sharyn Hickey (PhD)

Senior Lecturer
University of Western Australia , Perth

An enthusiastic data and policy analyst with over 9 years service in the federal public sector, I have expertise in government health and welfare evaluation and reporting. My skills are grounded in data analysis, and I am proficient in a wide range of tools including GIS, SAS, STATA, SPSS, Tableau, Endnote, NVIVO, and Microsoft software.

I have honed my abilities in project management, research, and effective communication. I have drafted successful funding proposals, manuscripts, and comprehensive reports, both for web and PDF/print publication. My collaborative spirit has allowed me to work seamlessly with diverse teams across various government and non-government agencies.

I am personally passionate about applying my skills and experience towards improving health awareness and outcomes, specifically for women and children from marginalized groups. In 2023, I was awarded a PhD in Public Health & Biological Anthropology with a thesis exploring an association between maternal experiences of cyclone disasters and perinatal outcomes.

I am committed to continuous learning and self-development, either getting lost in a good book or striving to enhance my skills in policy analysis, multi-lingual proficiency, and leadership. I am excited to connect with individuals who share my passion for improving the well-being of underserved groups and leveraging data-driven insights to shape impactful policies.
