Robert Hassett
Principal Agribusiness Development Officer
Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Brisbane
Rob has had a long career with the Queensland Government specialising in land and vegetation management and administration. Varying roles spanning departments have enabled him the opportunity to collect land and resource condition data across most of Australia.
He has a practical focus on sustainable natural resource management through technical research, implementation and monitoring, and the development and application of operational policies, guidelines, and training material.
Rob has personally developed and led State and national field data collection programs that underpin sustainable land management initiatives and the research and development of products derived from remote sensing and modelling.
The products and data collected are used by government and land managers to support the productive and sustainable use of Australia's renewable resources.
Rob's extensive experience has been applied to the design and development of innovative and efficient, program-specific data-collection methods and tools - including the Land Condition Assessment Tool (LCAT) - that have been recognised in a range of Departmental and State awards.
As a passionate advocate for the environment, Rob is heavily involved in capability and capacity building programs to support and protect the economic, environmental, social, and cultural values of Australia’s rangelands.
